Carbon Footprint
In a nutshell, your carbon footprint is the sum of all Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions that are directly and indirectly associated with your activities over a given time frame (usually a year). Increase in CO2, a greenhouse gas, is directly related to global warming. The Carbon Footprint can be defined for an individual, a group of people such as a town or just about any type of business.
While there are many factors that can change your Carbon Footprint, some are notably more directly associated with CO2 than others. Actions like driving a vehicle with high emissions, using the AC at home all the time or using excessive electricity can raise your Carbon Footprint dramatically. On the other hand, minimizing driving, buying recycled products, recycling more and being less wasteful all together greatly reduces everyone's Carbon Footprint.
So, what is MNR Water doing to minimize its Carbon Footprint?
For starters, the bottle itself greatly reduces our carbon footprint by using 100% recycled plastic (rPET). This is very important, because unlike other plastics which may be recycled only once into a parking lot bumper or plastic lumber, bottles can be indefinitely recycled. If we take the time to recycle our water bottles, chances are it will once again be a recyclable beverage bottle. Using recycled plastic minimizes the manufacture of more new bottles thereby reducing our dependence on oil.
